Get ready Yarram for a night to remember as Aussie heart throb Craig McLachlan brings ‘Six String Stories’, his unique and exciting live and Intimate stage show, to the historic Regent Theatre.
Whether you fell in love with a young mullet-ed Craig mowing Mrs Mangel’s lawn or, decades on, marvelled at his mature portrayal of the complex mystery-solving medico Dr Lucien Blake, it would be fair to say that, for Craig and for you as an audience, it’s been quite a journey.
And as is the case with any journey… expect the unexpected.
When an 11 year-old Craig, resplendently dressed in a blue velvet top and navy flares made his public performance debut, strumming a proper grown up electric guitar alongside proper grown up musicians in a local dance band, did he expect to one day be jamming with Paul Stanley from KISS? Or win an ARIA award, or multiple Logie’s including the coveted Gold Logie? Did he expect to win a ‘best actor’ Helpmann Award for his take on Rocky Horror’s Dr Frank n’ Furter or to find himself one day sitting in his spare room surrounded by silver, gold and platinum records? And how about yodeling with the Bee Gees while waiting to sing for The Queen? Yes That Queen! Yep, expect the unexpected.
And did he ever imagine that one day he’d fall for a gal from Yarram named Vanessa and that she would embark upon an extraordinary journey of her own, a musical life journey that began with piano lessons and Eisteddfod’s, seeing her ultimately conducting internationally renowned orchestras?
And…. did he ever imagine that he could persuade Vanessa to join him and his percussion pounding pal Dave, on stage for Six String Stories!
