In 2013 Craig McLachlan debuted as the debonair and troubled Dr Lucien Blake in The Doctor Blake Mysteries which ran for 45 episodes over five series. It became consistently the highest rating locally produced drama on Australian television and went on to air in 160 regions world-wide. In 2018 Craig was awarded Silver for Best Performance by an Actor in the Craft category in the New York Festival’s Film &  Television Awards. In the UK in 2020 the series was declared the “most finished series on BBC 1” for consistent audience viewership.

Craig made his TV drama debut in the early 80’s with a guest appearance on The Young Doctors. Another guest role on the popular series Sons and Daughters led to Craig auditioning for and landing the role of Henry Ramsay, brother to Kylie Minogue’s character Charlene in Neighbours. The success of his portrayal of Henry made Craig officially the most popular personality on Australian TV, for which he won a Gold Logie in 1990 and became a household name throughout the UK.

Craig then transitioned to a starring role in Home and Away as teacher Grant Mitchell which helped him complete a rare hat-trick of Silver Logies (1989, 1990 & 1991) for Most Popular Actor and Outstanding Actor.

1995 saw Craig co-star in the popular UK TV series Bugs. He went on to appear in many other TV series including McLeod’s Daughters, City Homicide, Always Greener, The Cut, Packed to the Rafters, Through My Eyes, Rescue Special Ops, Redfern Now, Deep Water, Lowdown and The Wrong Girl.

Film

In 1994 Craig appeared in the major TV movie Catherine the Great alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Jeanne Moreau and Omar Sharif.

In 2001 Craig appeared in Let’s Get Skase, My Husband My Killer and Invincible. He featured in the American movie Superfire in 2002 as well as Heroes’ Mountain.

In 2005 Craig starred as Jeff Kennard in the successful Australian film Hating Alison Ashley and the U.S produced The Great Raid, followed in 2009 by Amar a Moirir, Savages Crossing in 2011, Restoration in 2016 and The Doctor Blake Mysteries: Family Portrait in 2017.
