SAS AUSTRALIA

Craig McLachlan’s return to television via SAS Australia 2023 tested him like never before—pushed to the brink amid the unforgiving heat and isolation of Jordan’s Wadi Rum desert. His time on the show wasn’t just a physical trial; it became a crucible for reclaiming identity, trust, and a renewed sense of self.

“I came into the course with all sorts of personal issues, having gone through years of trauma. I really lost sight of who I was. And I’m leaving with a real sense of who I am… I’m leaving with trust in people again. It’s been a life-changing experience, really.”

What an experience!

It’s difficult to adequately and concisely put into words what it’s like to be reamed out, screamed at, shot at, blown up, starved, sleep deprived, psychologically toyed with, thrown out of high-speed marine vessels and routinely mocked! But, only weeks after abdominal surgery, I was there, in the Jordanian desert with my fellow recruits copping all that and a whole lot more!

With my tortured torso and glued-up guts giving me grief from the get-go, it was frankly incredible that I almost made it to the end. But, being a musician, I think I can best sum up the experience with a song. Enjoy!
