After the death of Jack McLeod, his daughter Claire inherits Drover’s Run, a vast cattle station in South Australia. Claire’s world is upended when her estranged half-sister, Tess, returns after 20 years, announcing she owns half the property and plans to sell. Unable to buy Tess out, Claire persuades her to stay and help run the station. With the support of housekeeper Meg, her daughter Jodi, and local girl Becky, Claire and Tess form an all-female workforce to keep Drover’s Run alive.
“This is one of those occasions I get cast in a role that’s a little darker, a little more complex, where the agenda of the character isn’t clearly known. I just relish it.”
What an unexpected treat.
In the early to mid 2000’s I was back in Oz for a minute and an old colleague & friend got in touch and told me he was working on a TV show, he said he was a producer on a thing called McLeods Daughters and that he and his creative crew had been discussing me in relation to a new character they’d come up with.
Hmmm cool. Now, living and working overseas, I hadn’t actually seen the show, so I said I’d check it out and thanked him for thinking of me. Well… I couldn’t get to location quick enough! Due to other commitments, I was only able to do 2 seasons with the McLeod’s mob, but we all had a hoot. And for a show that was all about horses… I never got to ride one! Though I did get to burn up the countryside on a whopping big 1000cc motorcycle!
Zuko would’ve thought that was cool.
